Cheryl, bogart away! I like knowing that I am not the only person with this kind of social disorder. Readers should know that we were both able to put fear aside and talk for several minutes. In the end, we are brave and awesome women for making the effort.

Dino, no need to feel sorry for us. We are just wired differently than most.

I couldn’t tell you were nervous. Could you tell that I was? I have a gigantic freak-out at home before any social event. I start crying and asking my husband if I can just please stay home!?! And then I kick my own ass, pretend I am a self-confident woman and go shake some hands and smile. When it all comes down to it, most people are very kind, and if all else fails, I escape into writing in my notebook (which was easy at The Fillmor because I was there to get background for the Dino book). Anyway. Sorry for bogarting your blog. It was absolutely fantastic to finally meet you.

Dino, like any technical profession, there is much mystery in the horse world. Actually, I really do try to make this stuff simple for readers without being insulting. Guess I need to work on that.

Sunspot - my favorite WI band - coming to Fillmore - Sept 5th? Correct? I hope so, as this is what I have been telling everyone that I come into contact with. I would not miss them for anything. Isn’t this supposed to be my late birthday show?

Alex, I was squeamish about branding 10 years ago, but have seen it done hundreds of times now. The horse’s reaction tells me that I am more worried about the process than they are. Additionally, their hide is much thicker even than the hide of a deer, so they are not burned in the way that you or I would be. The only thing that I do not like is the smell of singed hair. Yuck.
