Change Of Seasons

[a little interior design advice with Randy of Evolutions In Design]

With the holidays quickly approaching us, the desire for a quick change over from summer to fall, and then to Christmas can be a little overwhelming. But do not be over come with all of the tasks at hand. Small changes in your home can make a huge difference and make your home look new and fresh for each season.

First, find an area of your home that is very visible and where you spend most of your time. Maybe a kitchen or family room or a foyer to start with. Clear the area of the everyday items that you have there and change them out with a new seasonal item. The larger the item, of course the more impact. Do not be afraid to try something new.

For fall you could place large shafts of wheat on a sofa table or dinning room table, they are a fun and simple way to decorate and do not take up a lot of space for storage. Chandeliers are a great way to add décor to a room and make a large impact — small little bundles of wheat added to each arm can make a dramatic effect. Pumpkins and gourds are also great and will last through thanksgiving (which seems to be missed on the holiday schedule).

Changes that last for more than a couple weeks are the best and make your changes of environment a little more worthy of the time that it takes to do.

My favorite thing to do is to add something that is not expected, maybe a wagon wheel, or an old bucket that is filled with gourds – anything! It might surprise you when you walk through your garage what would and could work to change it up a bit. The moral of the story is not to be caught in the norm. Come walk through the store some day and see what we use. It may be an old trunk or a rake, but that’s what makes it fun! Enjoy

Oh, Evolutions, thy voice speaks to me in dulcet tones. Alas, fortune has caused me to not be employed there but elsewhere, a source of both chagrin and a rankling melancholy lo these past several years, and I wistfully wander those wondrous aisles only to exit into a gray plain street again.

    Randy,

Your establishment offers beauty to the whole area. We are all in your debt.
