The Next Step
A little over a month ago, Citizen Wausau was introduced to the community. We weren’t sure what kind of reception there’d be, or what kind of trials we might face. All we knew was that we wanted to reinvent what community in Wausau could be. There have been some definite ups and downs so far, but CW came out swinging and has been surprising all of us. When the curtain closed on October, we were left with over 4,000 visits and 15,000 pageviews from 13 countries. We’ve been immensely pleased and we owe all of our contributors a heartfelt thanks for sticking with us and helping us grow.
Now it’s time for the next step.
Marcus has been dropping hints for some time now about individual blogs. What does that mean? It means that anybody can register on CitizenWausau.com and have their own blog. And while we welcome your submissions for our Citizen Wausau blog, the Citizen Wausau Community is a place where you can write about anything, not just Wausau. Our man Dino is writing about his journey back to health. If you’re new to the blogging scene, I’ll be dedicating my blog exclusively to tutorials, tips, and bug fixes. Think of it as a neighborhood when WordPress.com and Blogger are booming metropolises.
Just one more thing; the blogs are still in beta. That means that not everything is quite up to snuff. But we think they’re ready enough for you guys to get in there, experiment, and have a little fun. If you see anything amiss, be sure to let us know. We’re also open to suggestions! By the end of the week we hope to tie up all of the loose ends and make this an official launch, but the majority of the work is done and we all agreed that it’s time.
That said, here are some links to get you started:
- Sign up or register for a blog.
- Contact us with any issues, or leave a comment here.
- Keep an eye on my blog; I promise to update it soon.
- Give Dino’s blog a read.

Hello in there …
The “Recent Activity” list on the left margin features the latest blog entries, but how do I quickly get to a blog I’d like to re-read (i.e. Dino’s)? When that listing gets pushed off the front page, where does it go? Do I go to wordpress and search for Dino? Or is there a blog list somewhere on CW I can’t find? And … thanks!

I thought I was the only one who couldn’t find Dino’s blog and was feeling pretty stupid. I feel a little better now. I’ll feel even better when I can find it and post a comment.

Tom and anonemoose, a community index page is one of the loose ends we’re in the process of tying up. Look for it by this weekend.

Another little CW hiccup to look into: just now, when I tried clicking through to my profile, I got this error message:
The page isn’t redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
While you guys are working through the minor fixes and new features, again, just want to say “thanks!” So … “thanks!”
