This is funny. The same thing will probably happen here but I’ll flail away. What does it mean that my comment is being moderated? I’ve pitched a couple of them on Tom Neal’s blog and they are somewhere in cyberland but not up on the screen.
moose, moderation of comments is set on a per-blog basis. Tom can change it as needed, but by default you need one approved comment before your comments appear automatically. It’s a method of preventing comment spam.
So basically, once he approves one, they should all show up.
Thank you SO much for the quick response. Now I at least understand what is going on. And clearly, there is a need for keeping spam off this sight.
It strikes me as rather odd, though, that I didn’t go through the approval process with Dino’s or Erik’s blogs. Is this something new since the comments got “fixed?”
Not necessarily; they might have both turned off the moderation option on their blogs. Mine is like that as well, because it’s lower-maintenance. It’s not particularly obvious unless you dig into your admin settings a little more, but I’ll try to elaborate on this topic more on my blog at some point.
Yeah, I had to dig around a bit in the settings to get it so comments wouldn’t wait for moderation. At the moment my blog is visited by nothing but the finest Citizen Wausau regulars so I just let the posts go straight up.
