After what seems like years of hard work and a final push over a busy weekend, the Citizen Wausau of old has been taken out back sent to live on a nice farm upstate to make way for a new site that is bigger (sorry), badder (in a good way), and bolder (slightly?).
We hope you’ll take a few moments to browse around and explore, but before you do, we have a very important favor to ask of our existing members. As you may have noticed, this new iteration of the site offers features that we could only have dreamed about when we launched two years ago. But to use the newly-added social networking options, you’ll need to login to your profile. Once you’re logged in, use the My Profile link, go to Profile » Edit Profile and fill in the Name field.
While you’re there, feel free to add any other profile information or add an avatar, but the Name field MUST be filled out for your account to work properly. We apologize for this hiccup, but there doesn’t seem to be any way around it.
Thank you again for your support, interest, and patience as we work out the kinks in this new design, and as always, we look forward to hearing your feedback!
Way to Go everyone. Especially you Andy. This is another impressive piece of work. Thank you so much.
Signed in but now I must choose an image to represent myself….hmmm….which aisle is the wrinkle cream on?
Why especially Andy? Why not especially me?
Because you look kind of like an owl.
I noticed that the blogs are still alive and well. Will there be a quick way to get to recent blog posts like on the old site?
Yep, one of our goals to was to ensure that all the content already on the site remains here, so the blogs have been unaffected aside from some visual tweaking.
If you’d like to check out recent blog posts, there are a couple options. They will always show up in the “Happenings » On Citizen Wausau” feed on the homepage, mixed in with other items (look for the blue links!).
Recent blog posts are also listed in the sidebar on all the Community pages, and you can see a full, indexed list here!
Note: the order is a little strange right now – that will work itself out as people post in theirs again.
Looking pretty slick.
Totally loving this…Great job, Andy and Dino…
Very significant upgrade. Congratulations. :)
Like the new look, good job!
I like it!
HELP!!!
I tried to tweek my picture and now it is just a small red x
Every time I try to edit my profile, just pulling up that page causes IE to completely shut down.
and … #1 most important.. how the _________ do I post a blog entry??
I should first admit that I’ve spent 0 minutes testing this site in any IE of any kind. Secondly, you’ll add a blog entry exactly as you’ve done in the past – you’d want to go to the URL citizenwausau.com/yourblogaddress/wp-admin/post-new.php – just substitute your blog’s address for the bolded portion.
When I have a moment I will look into the other problems you’re having. Do you have the same issue if you’re in Firefox?
Okay.. I figured out how to post the blog entry (the my blog things near the very bottom of the screen)..
However two different attempts were made and both gave me a “failed” message..
So, those interested in my thoughts on Weston’s Chronic Nuisance Ordiance that will go to their Public Safety committee tonite can check out my blog post over at the Wausau Daily Herald Site.
When did you get a “failed” message? When you tried to publish your blog post?
yes .. it said attempt to publish, click here to try again..
I did..
I got the blank blog entry screen… so I cut and paste it in there again… did it again.. same result
Can you try it for me one more time? I made a quick change that may fix the problem…
I need to work out of the office for a good chunk of the day… if you are able to do stuff within my blog… feel free to cut and paste today blog entry from WDH into mine….
Thanx
YOU ARE A GOD!!!!
thank you!!
I somewhat feel that I’m on an adult discussion Facebook with background info, friend requests, and twitters telling me what people are doing at every moment of the day.
OK…I’ve wandered around and acclimated myself to this newness…and it is impressive!….even I, an anti-tech, can understand it and muddle around!…great job!
