City Council Meeting, April 22nd
As most of us may have anticipated, the Mayoral veto on restructuring committee appointment procedures set the stage for a contentious City Council meeting here in Wausau last night. As a regular attender of said meetings, this was a night of firsts. This was the first time that I have ever seen the room full (perhaps people were expecting a dog fight of sorts). It was also the first time I have ever seen anyone register for comments in advance. And, it was the first time I have ever seen a Point of Order come from the crowd.
Along with these …
Citizen Wausau Seeks Help From You
[A Note from Dino: This post was made in haste, and Andy and I have talked about this more, and as a result we adding some changes. In an effort to be transparent, those changes will be easy to see.]
Dear Citizen Wausau Community,
Spring is here. We just passed our six month hump, and we are getting more traffic than we thought possible. Now, we need to make some changes. Not large changes, but small ones. Small but significant, and from that, we will look to you.
We seek to create, and implement a version of an editorial …
City of Wausau Committee Appointments
In case you were wondering who on the City Council is tasked with what? Well, this document should be able to answer these questions. In the past, these appointments have led to some clashes on the Council, and these might as well.
Your City government is yours though. That is something that should not be forgotten. These people are voted for by you, and for you. They are acting in a role of service, as such we should thank them. But also we need to be a part of this process.
Kristen Fish Resigns
I am honestly shocked by this turn of events. Kristen Fish has resigned after 7 years with the City of Wausau. We have tried to contact her, but was unable to reach her for comment. No one gets pleasure out of seeing someone leave their job and career after so much success.
Van De Yacht Documents
It appears from this, that former Council Person VanDe Yacht suffered some form of reputation sabotage at the hands of the City. At least that is how I am reading this, and I can’t make heads or tails from it.
I theorize this thought, this might be the beginning of the adversarial sense that our city council has with itself. This is clearly another example of people being unhappy with the experience of leadership, and progress, and the whole nine yards. In this case it appears to be a person lashing out.
I, for one and in …
6 Questions to Think About While Flossing
I guess, in a lot of ways, I like speakers to headphones. I am winding my watch, though it does not need it, it is digital. But I wind, because it makes me think of Thanksgiving, and days of yore, and my pony Willie Boy. I think that sometimes, it is simply enough to say thank you, and to feel good about it. But more than that, it is really enough to own a rowboat and enough lipbalm for a weekend trip to Scottsdale.

11 Questions to Avoid Tempting the Wrath of Whatever From High Atop the Thing
I am upset today. Mad at the actual internet, the tubes, the whole nine yards. It’s not a truck, and as a result people just talk and talk and talk. So, Sarah Lacy, from me to you I thought your interview was really great. Its just more of the same. As if Tipple versus Hadley was not enough, now people I enjoy are ripping on people I really respect for being interesting.
Sigh. Web 2.0, when will it stop being about you?
- Were you happy with the outcome of the election? The Mayoral election seems to be interesting, and more important what …
Good People Day, 2008
It is all over the internet today. People are posting videos, and podcasts, and blog posts, and ecards, and PayPal donations, and YouTube and Twitter and Pownce and Virb, and LinkedIn, and all of it. The tubes are burning up. People are out there follow the lead of Gary Vaynerchuk, and passionately thanking folks in their lives who have made them a success. So my good friend Andy encouraged me to get into this, and so we shall.
So much has been made and discussed about Citizen Wausau from our beginning, to the shakeup, to the nature of what we …
Cool Dude: Postponed
With the election taking place yesterday, I decided to take a week off from celebration. It sort of brings the past couple of weeks together though, Tipple then Hadley, then the voters. So rather than move on, we’ll post the results, and you can see the turnout and how your future will be affected by your action or inaction.
Here are the results, thanks to the City of Wausau.

13 Questions as Bootsy Collins Rattles the Plaster Off My Walls
I have come down. Truly. The Easter Weekend was the mighty Scott Holt weekend up north, and from that I finally have returned to Earth. I did not have voice, so I could not record anything at work, and as a result spent a whole week reading.
Tonight, the walls shake, the dog looks on me with a pained expression of self knowledge, and I dance. I dance the dance of release. The dance that brings it all around to 1991, and a joy for life that I have longed for. The big-brained super discussion from the past today, the collaboration …
