Say no to the clans

by Boogenstein on February 3rd, 2008

Is this Land of Democracy likely to bring back one of the 2 clans that have ruled since 1992? I hope not. If you were born in 1974 or later, you have never had a chance to vote without a Clinton or a Bush on the ticket. Do you have any idea how ridiculous this situation appears to the rest of humanity?

While I have your attention, check out this video from a renowned academic (20 minutes long). if you are still unsure of which way to go with Clinton vs Obama, it might well clear your thoughts.

I pretty much agree, too, although to stick up for my countrymen… Clan-based politics is not exactly unique to the U.S.! And not just developing nations. Japan is a real democracy, and they have tons of dynastic political families.

It is a weak justification, to be sure. But if the choice in November is between another Clinton and a guy who wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years, well, maybe some people decide that extending a dynasty is the lesser evil…

If Clinton gets in, who is next? Jeb Bush? Many Republican pundits are hoping for Clinton because it might give their man a chance. Personally my fingers are crossed for Mr Obama. We might know within hours!

you have a point Tom but with my bloodline a more acurate term would be sept, rather than clan.

Andrew, I appreciate the fact that you still cling to the hope that Mr Paul might do something, but please be serious. Big Bird would have easily got more votes!
