rar! I feel like a chick in the middle of a bar fight and I don't know whether to try to stop it or stand back. The only difference is that internet fighting is not as sexy as real fighting.

Cue E.L.O.'s "Showdown" ...aaaahhhhh, the strings add so much drama.

You're welcome. I challenge you to submit the first discussion. Kind of like a duel, only not as cool.

Thanks Alex.

Perfect example.

Mortal enemies come to agree! Does everyone else get the point? Create discussion instead of carpal tunnel and a community will evolve.

I would have to say I agree with this. I am all for more reader involvement. Throughout this entire whatever you want to call it, it was refreshing to see more than two comments on a blog post.

If that happened on the front page everyday, it certainly would be outstanding.

The CW idea is too good to let it get stuck in a rut. The question idea is a good one for filling in when needed. I thought more about this today and I think that might it be better to ask one big and possibly controversial question to get the conversation going? The questions could be obscure local history stuff, International politics, whatever. For instance, you could ask "Why is it that Catholic priests have a reputation for unsavoury tendencies whereas lutherans do not?" We will then get to know each other with thoughts and ideas, not shopping lists. That way the reader wouldn't just be scrolling through a mass of random seeming answers to add their own, they would have to read others thoughts to join in.

Whenever one comments somewhere, you'll go back to see if anybody answered. Comments are all about conversation. Make it worthwhile for people to return and the community will thrive.Any sign of monotony and they'll head for the hills.

This post was because i do give a damn, no more than that. Could I have sent a private message? Yes, for sure, but no conversation would have taken place. If it upset someone, great. At least they will have cause to think about it.

I want to say, since I am the focus of the original post, the criticism is a fair one, and I took very little offense to it.

CW is an organic thing, and as such many factors come into play.

I find the back and forth in the comments to be the kind of thing I do not like and hope to avoid. If it is your intention to talk objectively, and civilly, fine. The degeneration to name calling and insults, NO MATTER HOW VEILED, does no one anygood.

As far as submissions, feel free to submit as often as you would like. We read everything.

Boog ...

You can glean from some of the responses that CW can serve as a journalistic channel when suitable content is forthcoming, as an "observations on Wausau life" channel when someone has something introspective or insightful to say, as a community bulletin board, and as a source of silly fraternal diversion. No hard and fast rules really. Dino started and maintained the questions feature for 2 reasons: (1) to provide some light-hearted repartee, and (2) to fill the void when other contributions weren't coming in. Certainly, any worthy post (which is to say, virtually any post) would trump the questions. Reading into your original post for deeper intent, I kind of felt that you were expressing overall discontent with CW's performance to date. That's not entirely unfounded. Even those of us who are actively involved with CW are not content with it. We want it to evolve and grow. And it will. Keep checking in.
