The beginning I suppose
Thanks to a reader, I realized that I sort of started in the middle of this thing. So I thought i would lay out some of the beginning work, or rather let you know where I am doing the things I do.
A few months back I saw an ad in the City Pages, and thought that it was time. I was not getting where I needed to be on my own, and I thought I wanted to make a change. So I called. It was the Weight Management Center at Aspirus here in Weston. So I called and made an appointment. I have to admit I felt a lot of shame reaching out like that, but if you know me, you know this has gone on too long.
So I handled my shame, and went. My first meeting was with Kelly the nutritionist. She is a certified dietician, or nutritionist, which ever one is better. I do not have her card nearby. So I am stuck without that knowledge. Initially I thought Kelly was too pretty, that I would never really be able to handle this sort of thing with a pretty girl being a part of the process, but then she put me at ease and I decided to shut up and stop being such a 12 year old. We weighed me, and did some other basic testing, and met with the doctor.
My Doctor in this process is Dr. Claire Reed. She is handling the medical aspects of this like my blood sugar, and any extra drugs I might need. We did an ekg right away, and she ordered some blood work, and told me I was the right age to finally get a doctor of my own. So we settled on Dr. Paulson at Aspirus.
My next stop was Dr. Paulson. He was the one who gave me the labs, and prescribed me with metformin. From what I understand my cholesterol and blood sugar were literally a point or two away from demanding medical intervention. So it appears that this sort of thing happened exactly at the right time.
Then it was back to my nutritionist/goddess of all that I eat Kelly, and more information. It turns out that I would be having weekly classes (that I have missed 2 of already) and weekly weigh ins at the class.
We talked about a plan, and my goals, and the rest.
So I am doing the Winning Weighs at Aspirus Weston. With the Medical Management part as well.
