My Journey Back to Health

Hoping that all the years of fun might be reversible

Saturday Afternoon Catch Up

So this morning was dedicated to my friend Tom Neal. I spent the morning soaking in the rays of the sun listening to Thin Lizzy, early Clapton, and Led Zepplin. Oddly enough Thin Lizzy was the favorite, hmm has anything changed since I was 15.

Moose, here is the photo again. Hoss is a Cool Dude, so I did not want to waste it, but since you caught me.

So, snow shoveling officially counts as exercise. I spent the morning and the noon hours moving the snow on the deck and the sidewalk at the house. I am not one of those guys who wants the drive clean, but when you get a chance to get rid of ice, you really should.

As far as the feedback goes, let me explain. I have been churning out content for the paper or the internet, or this or that for a while now. And for the most part, even the musicians that I write about do not give a crap. It feels like they have a sense of entitlement, that they should havbe an article written about them since they set the bong dow long enough to talk to me on the phone. So that is tough. I know it is a weakness to want that reaction, and I am sure I can trace it to my childhood, but really I just would like to think I am getting the hang of this, that I am getting better at something more than typing. Because clearly I am not getting any better at Grammar or spelling.

My hands feel strange this morning on the keyboard. I felt a little light headed but not like actually light headed outside. Just sort of out of sorts, or disconnected with my body kind of thing. Like the blood had not gotten all the way to my feet and hands, so they felt like they were not connected.

The morning workouts have been okay. Actually they arae great. The idea of connecting to your body BEFORE you have to go to work and use your mind is great. It wakes the morning up, and sets the day up as something good. I still struggle with sleep, but that feels like it is getting better. I admit to enjoying the help of Advil PM. Maybe a little too much, but when I lay down it makes the time between lay down and sleep shorter. Which is important to me.

I like feeling like my body is becoming my own. It has felt so foreign for so long. Like I was carrying around parts of others, and was forced to carry them.

I am slowly coming to the end of my time at the winning weighs stuff, and will need to buy a home scale. I wonder if they go up to the point where big guys are. Maybe the one at the Y is accurate enough, but with 9 million kids fooling around there, I dont know.

The tattoo is quite impressive. It took HOW many hours in the chair? I find this whole business of body art quite interesting but clearly, I have none, nor will I ever have any.

I believe that I have stated before that I count shoveling as “time served” on my treadmill. I’m sure you have noticed that your heart rate goes up and you are breathing a little harder. Also, you are working with weights, just a different kind. I don’t know what kind of shovel you use but if you use one of the old-fashioned metal ones, you are adding to the whole workout.

I’m glad the morning workouts are working out (no pun intended). Keep it up with the early wake up calls.
