El Video de Wausau

Wausau Through the Lens of a Video Camera

Fore a Cure

by erik on November 8th, 2007

Well I enjoy the ol’ Citizen Wausau quite a bit, so I figured I’d contribute in my own way to the community (besides my annoying comments!). I work for a television station in Wausau and this allows me to get out and about and see the community daily. So as a photojournalist I try to make all of my stories “better than being there.” For example, I once did a story on Downtown Grocery, but anyone can (and should!) go down to Downtown Grocery. So it’s my job using cinematic variables to make my story better than being there.

I actually haven’t done a story about the Wausau area proper in a while that I’m really happy with, but I’ve got an oldie that I just recently dug up and put on the YouTube, so I’ll post that one here for now. It’s a pure fluff piece in the greatest sense of the word, but sometimes that affords one luxuries to be able to experiment and have fun since the coverage is easy to get. I am really happy with how this one turned out visually in pretty much every shot imaginable. My only regret is not getting two shots of Chastity with the interview subjects.

The story is on the Fore a Cure golf tournament that occured in August this year over at Greenwood Hills. The charity event raised over $100,000 for Breast Cancer research over at the Marshfield Clinic. Talk about a great excuse to cut out of work; what boss is going to tell someone to stay home and not support breast cancer research!

Edit 11/10/07 - Added the embedded video file since Andy was sweet and did up a blog on how.

Thanks for signing up erik, I look forward to seeing what you have to say. I’ll put the YouTube thing on my list; although it might work out of the box.
