<p align="left"><font size="4" color="#0000ff" face="Arial">We have two events coming up that might be of interest to Central Wisconsin </font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="4" color="#0000ff" face="Arial">1 &#8212; June 21 &#8212; Ride the Bus to the MREA Fair.  </font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="5">On Saturday, June 21st, you can ride a Lamer&#8217;s bus from Wausau to Custer, WI and visit the over 100 exhibits, hear presentations and listen to Jim Hightower, nationally known speaker and author. The bus is being sponsored by the Commission for a Greener Tomorrow and will leave the NTC west parking lot (closest to McDonald&#8217;s) at 8:30AM and return about 5:30 PM. The cost for the bus is FREE!! By purchasing your ticket (one day tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for seniors) at either the Downtown Grocery Store or the Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitor&#8217;s Bureau (by Cedar Creek Mall) you can reserve your seat on the bus. Save gas, learn about other ways to save energy at the Fair and relax on the trip down and back. </font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="4" color="#0000ff" face="Arial">2 &#8212; June 16 and 18 &#8212; Residential &#8220;Green&#8221; Open House&#8211;</font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="4" face="Arial">The Building Committee and Eco-Peak Construction is hosting an open house for their newly constructed home &#8212; which has earned the Green Build Home Certification.  By visiting the open house you can find way to make your existing home green, or start a green remodeling project or BUILD your own green Home!!!</font></p>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial"><font size="4">The Home is located at 12400 3rd Lane in Hamburg. (Directions: From Hwy 29 take Hwy 107 North to Hwy F.  Go West (left) of F to </font><font size="2"><strong>3<sup>rd</sup> Lane</strong><strong>.  Turn South onto </strong><strong>3<sup>rd</sup> Lane</strong><strong> to home on left side of the street).  </strong></font></font></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are lots of great things going on today in celebration of Earth Day!!  Just wanted to shout out a quick congratualations to the City of Antigo &#8212; Today Mark Meyer, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, is presenting &#8220;An Excellence of Energy Efficiency Award&#8221;! </p>
<p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">The city of Antigo has worked with Focus on Energy over the past several years to find ways to improve the operation and efficiency of government facilities and public areas.  These projects include, but are not limited to: lighting upgrades, boiler and variable frequency drives installations and improvements to the operation of the wastewater and water treatment facilities.</font></p>

<p>Businesses are getting involved in Earth Day Activities also &#8212;</p>
<p>    Marathon Electric is selling CFLs for their employees along with a &#8220;Green Seminar&#8221; for their employees, Samuel&#8217;s group is giving tours of their building and doing tree planting with a school group; Wisconsin Public Service is also partnering with few local classes to plant some trees in the community &#8212; and so many more things!!</p>
<p><font color="#008000"><strong>The Green Saturday Event is a Weekend Long Event &#8212; &#8220;Central Wisconsin Prairie Chicken Festival&#8221; &#8212;-</strong></p>
<p></font><font color="#008000"><strong>Join us to celebrate Central Wisconsin&#8217;s Grassland habitats. A truly unique and breathtaking experience. Come to see the Prairie Chicken do its mating dance, to find out what you can do in your backyard to benefit wildlife, see kestrels in their nests or learn from Master Bird banders as they band birds for research. Although it&#8217;s against the law, many of us still dispose of paper products in our garbage. As a result of this, today&#8217;s landfills still contain about 30-40% paper products. Many of us might not feel comfortable recycling our sensitive documents using our curbside collection. By properly disposing of 35,000 pounds of sensitive documents and transporting the material for use at a local paper mills, we&#8217;ve saved valuable landfill space, energy and resources in the production of new paper, and at least 200 trees!!!</p>

Have you always wanted to test drive a green car? Now’s your chance when the Student Government Association brings the Hybrid Guru to the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County.<br />
 <br />
Chris Schneider, the Hybrid Guru, will bring two alternative fuel vehicles to campus on Wednesday, April 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Schneider will begin with a 15-minute DVD on alternative fuel vehicles, shown in room 180. Weather permitting, questions and answers will be moved to the parking lot in Marathon Park, where the vehicles will be located.<br />
 <br />
These cars of the future will feature one that runs on compressed natural gas and the other that runs on just electricity. Participants will be able to test drive or ride in the vehicles.<br />
 <br />
The “early” Earth Day event is sponsored by the UWMC Student Government and is free and open to the public. UWMC is located at 518 South 7th Avenue in Wausau.<br />
