It was a weird feeling when 10 years ago (at 35) if sold my golf clubs. I hadn’t used them in years and wondered why I kept them. Mind you, I loved golf. However, I just could not find the time to play anymore. It felt like I sold a part of my “youth” when I let them go for a song. Now years later, I don’t miss them.
This tax year I needed to find more charitable donations. And the fact that soon I’ll be moving to New York to a much much smaller place I need to prune down to about 20% of the stuff I’ve collected over the year. I suspect this stuff was no more then the normal collections must of us keep as American’s. Anyway, the first thing I came across was my comic collections.
Not an overlarge collecting mind you (packed a old fashion wire milk crate worth), but the last of my childhood also got packed away and will hopefully find a new home for others to enjoy. I fancy to imagine it will be a younger fellow who loved Wizards and would appreciate my love for old Doctor Strange adventures. The reality is that some older investor / collector will gobble them up and sit on them for 10 years. Oh well, I’ve not looked at them in 10+ years either, so I guess it seemed natural enough…
Though there were some real “Gems” in this collection, the cumulative monetary “worth” was of some note. Though the gang at the Wausau Salvation Army store are not specialist in comic’s, I suggested pricing them about half their e-bay value to sell them locally. So if you are looking for a good deal, or just more stuff to gather into your back closets, garages or storage facilities, run on down. You might note some other gems like cheap tools, a cheap but nice 50 CD player and other whatnot’s – all while supporting a good local cause.
