“…our funding fathers… they knew their history. They knew SOCIALISM didn’t work, they knew COMMUNISM was not the answer.”
Oh Joe, if only you knew your history…

“The term “communism” was probably coined by the French utopist Étienne Cabet for his communitarian social movement in 1839. In the following year 1840 the British leftist John Goodwyn Barmby used this term for Babeuf’s teachings. The word “socialism” came in use about 1840 and both terms were largely interchangeable at the time.”
So Joe this happen long before your reported “founding fathers constatutional” documents. Matter of fact, most of the funding fathers where long dead by the time these terms where used in any verient for the first time.
Ahh, don’t let the facts get in the way of your Rhederic… it is, afterall, the right-wings way.

Quick thoughts for Mercutio: Want to double your impact? Identify yourself. There is a reason most newspapers require letter-writers to sign their names. You’re a smart guy with good ideas. Using a fake name makes it easy for people to disregard what you have to say. Make a greater impact. Also, take a second to run spell-check on your stuff and/or have a friend proofread it before it’s posted.

sorry to hear you had to suffer through more of the plumber. thought maybe he had been flushed after election time.
i think in reality, not only do most americans not know the origin of such terms/philosophies, but they have zero real-world knowledge of anything even close to socialism/communism and throwing such terms around is nothing more than low-grade scare tactics. i think everyone should be required to spend time in a part of the world that actually struggles with such things before being allowed to spout off about them. or at least, as many of us in central america have been the last two days, be forced to listen to the ramblings of real socialists…in this case, namely chavez…
