What’s Shakin’

by Tom Neal on January 9th, 2008

Been thinking about what to feature on my radio show tomorrow night (Roundtrip with Neal at the Wheel, WNRB-LP, 93.3 FM, Wausau) … and I have a theme!! A thread … a focusing element to make the 2 hours a cohesive intellectual experience. Or, just some flimsy gimmick to wrap the show around. Over the course of the history of popular music, there’s been a preoccupation with the notion of shaking. “Shake that thang.” “Shake your moneymaker.” “Shake it, don’t break it.” “Wake me, shake me.” All sorts of provocative songs about shakin’ and being shook. So I’m gonna shake it up from 7-9 pm with every song carrying a shake theme. You’ll hear offerings by The Who, Jerry Lee Lewis, Butterfield Blues Band, Stones, Counting Crows, Animals, Grateful Dead, and others … blues, rock, blues/rock, alt. rock, Brits and Yanks. Tune in and shake a tailfeather, bay-beh!!

And following my 2 hours, stick around for Martin James and Radio Free Wausau, the second installment of a brand new program that will take you places no other station around here can.
