Friggin’ Sense of Humor
In my ongoing quest to find an occasional theme to carry my weekly Thursday night radio show (Roundtrip, WNRB-LP, 93.3 FM, Wausau), I’ve presented a 1968 show, a “shake/shaking” show, an art rock show, and several “this week in music history” shows. Tonight, due to lack of planning, I’ll be presenting your basic eclectic mix of rock, blues, folk, jazz, whatever from the past 5 decades or so. But … NEXT WEEK … I plan to present only music that reflects a sense of humor. Jokes, send-ups, satires, over-the-tops, you name it. Sort of my own Dr. Demento program. No “I love you” “I want you” “I miss you” tunes, unless they’re funny. No protest songs, epics, philosophies, confessions, BLUES, raves, poetry, psychedelia … unless it’s funny. Now, what I think is funny may not coincide with your sense of humor, but I’ll do my best. I’ll spend the next few days pulling together the tunes, which will be fun. So, will you join me … just for a laugh? Give your sense of humor a workout? Don’t worry, though, I won’t try to be a comedian. That probably wouldn’t work. Hope you’ll tune in next week, Thursday night (7-9) for the Friggin’ Sense of Humor Show, and tonight just for good stuff you typically don’t hear anywhere else in these parts.
