Nice line up. I’ve really been into Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens (& sigur ros too!–but that’s not on the list) lately. I think it’s that time of year. However, I do have some bad feelings towards the Flaming Lips, unfortunately I guess. I think it was a failed experiment–even typing their name kind of gives me a sick feeling…

I love R.E.M. I was terribly anti-Stand when it first came out. I feel that Green really changed the band. That being said, give me some Can’t Get There From Here and it almost brings me to tears. Good stuff.

On a side note, while browsing around I found this about the song.

In interview in Rolling Stone – From Art School to the Hall of Fame: R.E.M. Gives a Tour of Their Discography, “Stipe: For me, the big moment is ‘World Leader Pretend.’ It’s a tribute to Leonard Cohen, using military terms to describe a battle within. I was so proud of the lyrics and my vocal take that I refused to sing it a second time. I did it once. That was it.

You may have known this, but I did not. Fascinating.
