Welcome to Shawn and Alex’s weekly NFL Pick’em!

Rules

Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to beat Alex and Shawn, picking the winners of NFL games.

Each Monday we will post the entire schedule for the following weeks NFL games. We will also post a copy-and-paste list of the schedule as well.

To make your picks, copy-and-paste the schedule into a comment in the comment section each week, then remove the team in each game you think will be the eventual loser. This should leave you with sixteen winners for the week, barring bye weeks.

All picks must be posted to the comment section by Thursday  at 5 p.m. Wausau time. All late posts will be disqualified.

Each game you pick correctly will be worth one point.  Each Jets game you pick correctly (Favre lovers) will be worth two.  We’ll keep track of your points.

We will post the standings every Monday night, in the Standings section at the top of the page.

If the season ends with two or more people in a tie, the winner will be determined by a coin flip.

This season’s overall winner (provided they have beaten the experts Shawn and Alex) will receive a breathtaking and amazing prize from Citizen Wausau’s own …

Dino “I rule” Corvino.

Good luck, and happy picking.

(Although Pick’em guru’s Shawn and Alex will be picking each week, they are not eligible for the fabulous prize provided by Mr. Corvino.)

Alex’s Thoughts

Week one is always the most difficult to pick. If there is an upset to be had, week one is usually where you will find it. With defenses still light years ahead of offenses, it can be a crap-shoot at best.

I would like to say I am looking forward to a Sunday afternoon with friends watching football. Unfortunately, for week one, I will be in class from nine to five on Sunday. That’s the breaks I guess. At least I will get my first dose of football on Thursday, and of course will be primed and ready for the Packers on Monday night.

Here’s my picks:

N.Y. Giants
Detroit Lions
Cincinnati Bengals
Buffalo Bills
N.Y. Jets
New England Patriots
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Philadelphia Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers
Jacksonville Jaguars
Dallas Cowboys
San Diego Chargers
San Francisco 49ers
Indianapolis Colts
Denver Broncos

Alex’s absolute lock of the week:

Green Bay Packers

Shawn’s Thoughts

I have to agree with my esteemed partner here on the pick ‘em about Week 1 being the toughest to measure.  This is the only week where everyone has a secret weapon…hope.   As of week one, everyone is a contender, and many teams you don’t suspect may come out and beat a team they shouldn’t.  It will make for some compelling viewing.

Shawn’s Picks:

N.Y. Giants
Detroit Lions
Cincinnati Bengals
Buffalo Bills
New England Patriots
New Orleans Saints
Philadelphia Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers
Jacksonville Jaguars
Dallas Cowboys
San Diego Chargers
San Francisco 49ers
Indianapolis Colts
Green Bay Packers
Oakland Raiders

Since Alex had his lock of the week, I’m giving you Sully’s upset special.  Vegas can give you all the points they want on this game, but you’re not going to need ‘em…

Sully’s Upset of the Week:

Miami Dolphins

(Good Luck Everyone)
