Mush:My First Rap

by Alex Tallitsch on June 14th, 2008

June 14th, 2008

Today, for no reason at all, I decided to write my first ever rap song. I am as white as they come, although I have been in some unique situations in which I got to listen to freestyle up close and often. It certainly isn’t gangta rap, and I don’t think they make a category for whatever it really is. I imagine it’s more of a club tune. Since I can’t write a beat on paper, maybe that rapper dude from Wausau can hook me up.

Either way, for what it’s worth, (which isn’t much) here you go.

MUSH

Intro

/Pump/Pump/Pump/Pump

/Pump/Pump/Pump/Pump

Verse

I’ve got a new flow/with a sick beat/not in your woof man/in my head Pete

The days is rough yo’/I need release/to give my top/a little peace

I’m divided/undecided/on which street my heart is ridin’

I’ve come so far/out of the dark/but yet this life/is still in park

At a halt/it’s all my fault/now is the point for full assault

Time to stand up/be a man/do the small things that I can

Tried and true/when blues the hue/I crank that thump up right on through

Take it now/I’ll show you how/slap on the wax/and work that brow

Chorus

So when I’m trying /justifying/ as I fade out where I’m lying

Locked inside /up in my mind /with the trash of idle time

I take the fear/ let’s be sincere /there ain’t no foolin’ up in here

I spin some crush/ let’s bring the rush /bust out dat boom and stomp that mush

Verse

I watch the world spin/with the funk in/the guilt it seeps man/the weight of life’s sin

It’s hard to fake ache /I don’t perform/it steals my soul whole/reshapes the norm

I’m deluded/I’m secluded/I feel like a plant uprooted

Each day’s a chore/can’t take much more/I’m scared to death/bout what’s in store

I want the life/without the strife/please come and take it here’s the knife

Here’s the point/of this here joint/here’s the cure I do anoint

Smooth is the booth/the records soothe/I bump the juice to find the truth

Just find that track/go make it quack/then crank that dial/and bounce that back

Bridge

My show/ it’s slow/ I don’t know where to go

I’m up /and down/ near underground

Each day/ same way/ escape

Say/ I don’t want to feel this and it’s time for change

Outro (spoken)

Yo’ man let’s hear some more of that
